Foremark weekly report week ending 8th April 2018

Telephone Number: 01283 703202

Another varied week due the ever-changing weather conditions and wind direction. The sun has broken through sometimes which has generated some warmth and resulted in the water temperature slowly starting to increase with this morning’s temperature being 8 degrees centigrade. The warmer weather has started to see some good buzzer hatches which has meant that fishing imitative patterns has been productive.

At the start of the week another 600-quality fish were stocked of average weight 2 lbs with a further stocking due this week. The bank fishing continues to yield the best results although the boat returns are increasing as the fish are slowly exploring the reservoir apart from that of Flamingo bay. It is evident that some fish have moved to Bramble bay. Boats have also caught in the cascade and along the dam wall. A nice surprise this week was an Osprey taking a trout from Flamingo bay.

On Tuesday DCAC members Topping and Robinson landed 40 fish in a morning session. Mr Machin caught 16 on size 14 Black Buzzers from the bank fishing Flamingo bay. Messer’s Johnson and Ward landed 23 fish between them again mainly on Buzzers whilst Mr I. McWilliams caught 15 on buzzers. Mr Rivett caught 11 on buzzers on Thursday whilst Mr T Cornell caught 4 on Buzzers of which 2 fish were over 3.5 lbs. On Friday Messr’s Burton and Graney had 42 fish between them on Pheasant Tailed nymphs. On Saturday Tony and Ruth Kirk caught 5 fish between them whilst fishing the bank on Carvers Arm. Mr Baker during a last 4 hours session caught 7 fish to 3lbs mainly on buzzers, but one fell to a dry fly. Sunday saw anglers catching on buzzers and damsels with Mr Mansell taking 11 and Mr Southgate taking 8, both in a morning session. The afternoon and evening also produced with Mr Eyden taking 12 and Mr Churchill catching 6 during his evening visit.

Winner of this week’s free boat draw: Mr John Machin of Long Eaton

HELP!  Lift required to fishing waters

“Good Day to all you Fly-fishers,

I am sure many of you will know PAUL WALKER (a successful Foremark & Draycote angler)– if only by sight as you tote your bags to the water.   Despite being fit as a flea Paul is no longer able to drive.

It would be wonderful if someone could come to the rescue and help with transport.   I can deliver Paul to your home and pick up later – anywhere up to 10 miles from Breaston (DE723BH)

Paul has fished fly all his life and would be happy to share skills, all costs, and pleasures.

A regular or a one-off, Paul would have done the same for you.

Thank you.   Enid Walker
