Foremark weekly report week ending 23rd July 2017
Telephone Number: 01283 703202
Yet again water temperature and the weather has played a large part in last week’s results, however looking at the thermometer this morning it is showing 170c and the indications are that may improve further over the next few days. The aerators/boils have now been running for a couple of months and are holding a shed load of fish with plenty showing near the surface. Some of the newly stocked fish have been happy to feed in the upper layers of the water or on dries off the top during the last couple of days, with the more resident fish being tempted on DI5 lines and snakes. The bank anglers have found the fishing very challenging with very few offers, in the evenings a few trout are periodically moving in to the margins and feeding on the fry.
Mr Ian Breadley fished the boils on Monday and took his 4fish limit on snakes and buzzers while Draycote manager Kevin Hart took time off for a spot of pleasure fishing & fished a morning session landing 7 trout on sinking line and snakes.
The going on Tuesday was tough but season permit holder Mr D. murphy was fishing the boils and slipped the net under a lovely 3lbs 13oz blue (picture on our facebook page) this was also entered this month’s trout masters. Mr P. Walker was top rod of the day with 8 trout during a last four- hour session on minkie booby and intermediate line.
On Thursday Foremark staff hosted a 4hour fishing session for a group from a local business, six beginners were given a short casting demonstration then went out fishing from a boat with one of our in house fishery guides for each boat. A good time was had by all catching 10 fish between them. If your interested in group bookings then call the lodge for more details and our group rates.
Mr P Walker was also back for another last four- hour permit and boated another six fish. Friday fished well around the boils with regular Mr J Scragg and his boat partner Mr B Nadin using a dry F/B klinkhammers taking 18 fish between them..
It was a very good day on Saturday for season permit holder Mr R Cotterill fishing a home- made cruncher in the boils he netted over twenty fish including 1 tiger trout and 4 over wintered fish he reported having a great day. Also on Saturday Tony and Ruth were back to have another go Tony managed 8 trout on hoppers while Ruth took 4 (Tony’s turn this week to be top rod then Ruth, your turn next week).
Kevin Hart took advantage of a weekend day off from his Draycote duties to get back out and get amongst the fish during a morning session Kevin landed 23 fish first fishing near the surface and then changing to a DI5 line and a white snake. Derby county angling club member Mr M Jacks fished a last-four hour session and landed12 fish on a variety of pheasant tail patterns.
With this week’s cooler forecast & the water temperature dropping to 17 degrees, not forgetting our current stock levels with over 8,000 trout currently in the water we are expecting our fishing to continue improving as it has done this week.
