With the cooler weather the trout are well on the fry, the trout can be seen in the margins during the early part of the day smashing into large shoals of fry around the pontoon and along the shore line in front of the lodge and around the cascade again this week. Those anglers that are prepared to change fly’s and methods are catching throughout the day.  


On Monday Mr P. Carter took 4 nice rainbows while fishing near the boat pontoon all on damsel nymph. Mr Coley and his boat partner Mr Taft boated 14 trout to 3lbs8oz on Tuesday from a mix of areas mainly around the cascade and Ticknall bank. While season permit holder S Wilson netted 11 trout from the bank in-front of the lodge. The best catch on Wednesday fell to Mr S owen boating a total of 10 trout. Friday regular Mr J Scagg was back on the dry fly, fishing a klink hammer around four buoy and the bank boating 15 fish. Mr A Beven to the accolade of top rod on Saturday banking 10 fish. Sunday was another day to fish the bank as season permit holder Mr R Cotterill proved taking 15 trout to 4lbs on a homemade floating fry.

Will be held here at Foremark on Sunday 6th November, arrive by 9.30 match starts at 10.00 till 15,00. Prizes traditional fur & feather style hamper for the winner. Bottles of wine for second and third & bottle of port for the biggest fish, donated by Fishery Management (uk)Ltd. Also other prizes on the day.

 We are now offering limited fly only pike fishing. All pike fishing must be PRE- BOOKED you must also have a suitable unhooking mat, the correct size landing net, long Forceps, all fly’s must be attached to a wire trace,All fly’s to be 4 inch or longer in length. All pike to be returned.


Don’t forget to pick up your loyalty card from the lodge, once you have purchased 10 of the same permit, your next visit of that permit option is FREE valid at all three fisheries, Thornton-Foremark-Draycote


 A Reminder For Bank Anglers

From Monday 11th April 2016 we have negotiated with our landlord STW a trial period to the 31st November 2016 which allows us to bank fish along the first 400yds of the DAM WALL
Certain restriction will be in place for anglers fishing the Dam Wall, they must not disturb any of the stones facing the dam, lifejackets will need to be worn supplied if required at the lodge, access on & off the dam wall will be from one area (the pontoon / lodge end) which will be clearly marked
