Foremark weekly report week ending 05/06/2016

Telephone Number: 01283 703202

A week of mixed weather conditions and temperatures last week but with a North or North East wind which did not help bank fishing, but still Sun blest bay and Bramble bay were fishable for most of the week. The water clarity is still excellent with clouds of daphnia around the pontoons. The hatching of some of the course fish this week as added another food source for the trout and some of them are gorging themselves as I type. Fishing with dry fly’s and CDC buzzers are really working well for some anglers during the early part of the day and in the evenings. Chris reported a very good evening rise last night (Sunday).

Season permit holder P.Walker banked 14 trout on Tuesday while on Thursday Mr S Wilson fished from his boat in Bush bay and Heron bay and took 17 fish on a variety of lines and fly’s. Green diawl bach and red buzzer was Mr J Sgragg on Friday for his 10 fish. On Saturday Mr M Miller banked 14 fish. Sunday dry fly and cdc’s was the chose fo Mr C Critcalley down the middle of Carvers arm for his 20 fish.

Sunday was also Kirby Fly Fishers boat match fished in very hot and bright conditions.15 rods took part taking a total of 24 fish for a rod average of 1.6. Best weight was Mr L Parker weighed in 4 fish for 8lbs 4.oz. best fish of the match was 3lbs 8oz which was caught by B Parker who also received a landing net as a prize.

Recently we have had a few nice pike caught on fly so we are now offering limited fly only pike fishing, one boat a day. All pike fishing must be PRE- BOOKED you must also have a suitable unhooking mat, the correct size landing net, long Forceps, all fly’s must be attached to a wire trace,  All fly’s to be 4 inch or longer in length. All pike to be returned. NO BANK FISHING FOR PIKE.

Water levels are now up and the water clarity is very clear, so if fishing from the banks look for deep water with a drop off close in. Time to look out for our usual fly hatch which normally happens this time of year so might be worth trying a dry fly or cdc buzzer again this week.

Don’t forget to pick up your loyalty card from the lodge, once you have purchased 10 of the same permit, your next visit of that permit option is FREE valid at all three fisheries, Thornton-Foremark-Draycote
