Foremark’s weekly report week ending 9/8/2015

Telephone Number: 01283 703202

The fishing is continuing to be challenging noting that it can be frustrating since the fish will rise to a dry fly or follow but the angler will fail to connect. The boat user is having the best catch whilst the bank angler catch is spasmodic but has improved over the past few weeks. Early morning or evening are the most productive times and there was several hatches of fly during the week and one evening  the reservoir was carpeted with flying black ant which encouraged a major rise of trout and large amount of bird life. A bank angler Mr Machin caught a rainbow over 5 pounds from the beach in front of the Fishing Lodge on a sedge fished dry. However the most productive fly of the week was a black gold headed Daddy Longlegs followed by a black Daddy Longlegs and a Hopper.

Thirteen representatives from the Cheshire Police had a boat competition at Foremark during this week. The match produced an average of 3 per rod with the winner being a Mr Dave Allen who returned a bag of 8 fish for just under 20lbs with an additional fish being returned. . The best fish caught in the competition was 5lbs 3 ounces with a further 8 fish over 4lbs.

Mr S Wilson on a separate occasion returned a catch of 9 fish.

The most productive areas have been the area in the vicinity of 4 buoy and the zone surrounding the cascade area.  Drifting in a boat in open water has also tended to produce results in preference to being anchored.

We will be holding the Graham Tagg memorial boat pairs match on Sunday the 20th of September and bookings have increased. Therefore if you wish to fish in this competition it is advisable you do so quickly by telephoning the Lodge to book a boat.
