Foremark’s weekly report week ending 26/04/15
Telephone Number: 01283 703202
No complaints about the weather this week although it may have been a little too bright at times. The fishing has continued in the same vain as the past couple of weeks with the fish still holding down carvers arm and the wires. The best bank areas are still around sun bless bay and bramble bay with fishing deep first thing and then changing line to a slow sink or intermediate and finding fish around three to four feet deep. Diawl batch are now taking fish on a more regular basis.
On Wednesday 6 anglers from Scotland on a three day package spending two days at Draycote and a day here at Foremark and had a splendid day with us landing 88 fish between them on a mixture of cut throat cat’s buzzers and a black and green variant of a cat’s whisker. On Friday season permit holder Mr J Machin fish dry sedge fly’s taking rainbows to 5LBs. Then on Sunday Kirby Fly Fishers held their rearranged boat match for a rod average of 6.2 the winner on the day was Mr D Rowbottom with 17lbs 13oz however he had to share the prize for the biggest fish with Mr W lewin as they both had fish weighing 4lbs 3oz. So this coming week be prepared to change lines and methods as the fish start to move around more. Flamingo bay and the sailing club bay are also now holding more fish.
With the hawthorn bushes now beginning to spring into flower again this week don’t forget to keep an eye out for the first hatches of hawthorn fly’s as some amazing sport can be had. So clean off those floating lines and stock up on your fly floatant. For more up to date information call the lodge on 01283 703202
