Foremark Fishing Report Week Ending 18.05.2014

Rods: 213, Trout Taken: 381, Trout Returned: 581, Total Number of Trout Caught: 962,                 Rod Average: 4.5

The week started off in the same vain as the previous week with plenty of fish showing and feeding freely on the surface on small dry’s and buzzers with some anglers reporting catching very good numbers of  fish. For example boat partners Mr R Denson and Mr J Hood whom both had over 20 fish each on dries and buzzers from Carvers arm. And season permit holder Mr Cravagen with 22 fish from the banks down towards the wires. But as the week progressed and became brighter and warmer the fish became cagier. However the fishing has still remained good with most rods tempting fish to similar methods.  Vernon’s point and flamingo bay has also fished well again this week. The boats still continue to find some good fishing tight to the bank on the Ticknall side of the reservoir. Intermediate lines teamed up with damsels or black and green and white lures or cat’s whisker continue to work well during the first part of the day then a switch to floating lines and shipmans buzzers and blk gnats and hawthorn imitations and even daddies and hoppers are taking a few fish. Sunday Mr M parker netted 4 fish to his boat on May

Horwich and district Fly Fishers fished their annual boat match on Sunday with 22 rods netting 80 fish for a match average of 3.5 Winner on the day was K Knowles with 8 fish for 19lbs8oz, Second was D Fox with 8 fish for 18lbs 6oz this also included the biggest fish of the match 3lbs 9oz R Urmston was third with 8 fish for 18lbs 2 oz.
