Another good weeks fishing at this Derbyshire venue with 188 rods catching 589 trout, returning 327 fish for a rod average of 3.1.
The weather this week has continued to dictate the fishing again. The bright sun light and hot days are keeping the fish well down, with the occasional fish rising just off the marginal shelves in the bays and down carvers arm. The banks have been a little bit tougher this week but some fish are still being caught from Hut point and sun blest bay and Verdun’s point being prolific. The best fishing methods continues to be with a DI5 and intermediate lines although during the warmer parts of the day a floating lines and buzzers have continued to take a number of fish.
The Water levels continue to remain about 3’ from full level & we have a slight algae bloom.
Best patterns: Booby’s, and deep fished Buzzers, cats whisker.
Verdon’s point, Hut point, Sun Blest and Bramble Bay, and along Carvers arm are the best areas for the bank anglers. The boats are now finding success in most of the Bays and along the dam wall.
Best fish of the week goes to Mr J Goodband 5lbs 2oz. Mr A Wild had a good day from the bank on Tuesday with 14 fish to 3Lbs on Buzzer off Hut point. Mr R Sacconne had a good day netting 8 fish including the weeks best Brown trout at 4Lbs from his boat. Mr C Rowlands also netted 12 fish to 4Lbs 8oz to his boat.
A good number of fish around 3 1/2lbs and 5 lb 2oz fish also have graced the nets yet again this week.
